Communicate 1.1.1

Communicate 1.1.1
Definitions of Communication

As a result of the innovations in technology my communication skills have changed. I own a smart phone and use it daily. I enjoy having it to talk, text and email. We also have a home telephone - many people do not have these any more because they use their cell phone as their only phone. I like having my smart phone but there is something about using a "real" telephone that I like a lot more. I feel that I can have a better conversation with someone when not using my smart phone.

I find that I text a lot more than I used to. If you have a quick question for someone I feel that is it appropriate and easy to send a text. Group texting is the new email. When making plans with friends I find that sending a group text is easier than an email. When anticipating a length response it would be best to send an email or pick up the phone and call.

Advancements in technology have altered classroom communication in a number of ways. First, students have access to teachers email addresses and in some cases cell phone numbers. Many assignments can be submitted via email. Teachers send emails and sometimes text to parents and maybe even students.  These ways of communicating help keep parents more in touch with teachers and what is going on in the classroom.

I am sure that as technology advances, so will the ways that teachers communicate with their students.
