Communicate 4.3.1
The Synchronous Session
In an online classroom environment, it is important to maintain a connection with your students. The synchronous learning session is the way to do this. An instructor must first establish a time and date that the sessions will take place. Much like coming to a traditional class at your assigned class period. These session will be conducted much like a traditional class. By using Adobe Connect teachers can see who is "present" in class by the student logging on and joining the session. The teacher can speak to her students by using a microphone and students can respond verbally by using their microphone. There is also a chat box where students and the teacher can type or share information. This is helpful and much like the teacher writing something on the board for her students to see.
The teacher must be prepared for these sessions just like in a traditional class. All of the materials needed will be prepare ahead of time. It is also important to have students try a practice run at logging in to the session and testing their equipment. And for teachers, it is always smart to have a "plan B" in case there are tech problems or other unforeseen matters.
Also, instructors must be aware of time spent during the session. Just like a traditional class period, the teacher should set a time for class to start and end.
