In some cases an open source application would take precedence over a commercial product when cost is an issue. Open virtual classrooms are free. No cost to the student and or teacher. Commercial products are costly. Many offer a free trial but after that there is a cost once the trial is over. Open virtual classrooms are an excellent resource for both teachers and students.
