Collecting Reputable Digital Resources Quest

The three most useful tools or resources resulting from my web walkabout are:

1. http://www.education.noaa.gov/
NOAA Education Resources
This is an excellent resource for science teachers. Students will also enjoy exploring the site. There are videos, materials, resources, and activities available. This is a .gov site - meaning it is a government provided , reputable website and would be safe for students to use.

2. http://education.usgs.gov/
U.S. Geological Services
Another excellent web resources for students and teachers in grades K - Undergraduate. This is also a government website. There are teacher resources, student activities, videos, and printables.

3. http://education.nationalgeographic.com/education/teaching-resources/?ar_a=1
National Geographic - Teaching Resources
This educational site, by National Geographic - a globally recognized magazine - has created an excellent resource for students and teachers. Videos, ideas, lessons, and teaching units are all available. There is a link to find free online courses for educators. Also, there is a link to the kids page which has student activities.

Students will need to be taught how to find reputable sources on the web. This can be done through a short intro to searching the web. Looking for websites that end their domain address in . edu, .org, .gov, .mil are good clues that the information on these sites is accurate. Also, students need to be made aware of personal blogs and sites where people can broadcast information that may not be reputable.

I created a digital bookmarking site on diigo.comHere  is the link to my library.
