Fair Use and the TEACH Act

As an educator, I did not know about the Fair Use and TEACH Act until completing this quest. This is wonderful information to know and have when seeking out information and materials for my students. The Fair Use checklist is very handy in determining whether or not the information found on the web should be used in your online classroom.

When obtaining resources found online to use in your online classroom it is important to reference the Fair Use checklist.
  • What is the purpose of gathering this information?
  • What is the nature of the resource you found?
  • The amount of the resource that you are using?
  • What effect will your use of the resources have?
If an educator follows the guidelines set out in the Fair Use and TEACH Act when obtain classroom materials then the user can insure that they are delivering reliable content to their students. It is always important to remember that using a reliable and safe source is the best place to obtain classroom materials.
